Maria Elmquist

Professor

Maria Elmquist is the Head of Department of Technology Management and Economics, Chalmers University of Technology. She also works at the division of Innovation and R&D Management and the Center for Business Innovation (CBI), where she researches the management of innovation, innovation capabilities, organization of R&D and design activities. Ongoing research includes projects on the development of innovative capabilities and on the use of design thinking in large companies.

Maria uses mainly qualitative methods (interviews, observation, interaction research…) and is used to working in close collaboration with industrial partners (often using a collaborative research approach) where the objective is to create knowledge that is relevant to both academics and practitioners. Her research has appeared in journals such as Research Policy, R&D Management and Creativity and Innovation Management. Maria is also an affiliated researcher at the CGS at Mines ParisTech.
