INNOVATIVE SOLUTIONS FOR SUSTAINABLE TRANSPORT AND LOGISTICS SYSTEMS

Increased environmental awareness and more stringent environmental requirements and environmental taxes, higher fuel prices and relatively more expensive transport places new demands on the development and management of transport and logistics systems that are economically and environmentally sustainable. Future logistics system simply must be “Greener and Leaner” to be competitive. This requires new innovative solutions for design and control. The aim of the conference is to provide inspiration for such development. Speakers from DHL, Bring, Schenker, Tetra Pak and IKEA tells of various concrete examples of sustainable solutions from its operations. Moreover, given the opportunity to meet and network with researchers and representatives from other companies. The conference will be held Wednesday, March 19, 2014, in Lund at Lund University. The registration fee of 1000 SEK includes lunch and coffee and snacks during the day. Application deadline is Wednesday, March 12. The conference is included as a sub-activity of a Nordic research project entitled “Management, Design and Evaluation of Sustainable Freight, and Logistics Systems”. The project is partly financed by NordForsk and involves researchers from the Faculty of Engineering, Aarhus University, the Norwegian School in Bergen and Aalto University in Helsinki.
