Christer Karlsson
Professor
Christer Karlsson holds an MSc and a PhD (Industrial Management) Degree from Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg. He is Professor of Innovation and Operations Management at the Copenhagen Business School, Stockholm School of Economics, European Institute for Advanced Studies in Management (EIASM) Brussels and NIMI, Chengdu, Sichuan, China.
His research focuses managerial aspects of technology and corporate strategy, technological development, product development and innovation processes, and production system design and development. In the field of strategy the focus is on strategies for complex industrial corporations and the development of global industrial networks. In the field of technological development a particular interest is in technology strategies and the strategic management of technology. In the field of product development and innovation processes all aspects of the process from idea generation to the realizing of products, goods as well as services, are studied. Also organizational structures, cross-functional integration and the development of radically new lean development structures and processes are areas of interest. In the field of production system development Christer Karlsson has a particular interest in lean systems and the development and implementation of global production systems.
The research has an interdisciplinary and management oriented approach. Most of the research is performed in close collaboration with industrial firms and other organizations, over long periods of time. Much of the research is carried out in “clinical” projects taking active part in the change processes.
