Alexander Styhre

Alexander Styhre, Ph.D. is chair of organization theory and management, Dept. of Business Administration, School of Business, Economics and Law, University of Gothenburg. Styhre earned his Ph.D. from the School of Economics and Management, Lund University, in 1998. In 1999, Styhre were recruited to Chalmers University of Technology. Between 2008 and 2010, Styhre held the chair of Operations Management at Chalmers. In January 2010, Styhre was appointed as chair of Organization and Management at the School of Business, Economics and Law, University of Gothenburg.

Styhre has published widely in the field of organization and his work has published more than 120 double-blind review journal articles, 30 research monographs, research anthologies, and textbooks and a number of research anthology book chapters and book reviews. Styhre’s work has appeared in e.g., Journal of Management Studies, Organization Studies, and Academy of Management Review. The most recent books published includes The financialization of the firm (Edward Elgar, 2015), Institutionalizing Assisted Reproductive Technologies: The Role of Science, Professionalism, and Regulatory Control (Co-authored with Rebecka Arman, Routledge, 2016), and Leadership Varieties (co-authored with Thomas Johansson, Routledge, 2016)

Styhre is the former Editor-In-Chief of Scandinavian Journal of Management, has served on the board of several journals and have reviewed extensively for e.g., Organization Studies and Journal of Management Studies. Styhre is currently part of the committee for Handelsbankens Forskningsstiftelser, the largest Swedish private financier of economics and management studies research. Styhre currently supervises three doctoral students.
