Malin Olander Roese

Malin Olander Roese, PhD, is researcher and senior lecturer in Innovation Engineering, Faculty of Engineering (LTH), Lund University. Her research brings together firms’ strategy, customer orientation and innovative capabilities – three different yet interlinked areas which in times of change may require new management processes. In her doctoral thesis “From PowerPoints to Reality” she explored the challenges and enablers of moving towards a new strategic direction of increased customer orientation and innovation in established industriers.
Her research focuses on management processes for strategic or business model innovation, taking outset in issues present in industry, primarily based on case studies and a qualitative approach. Studies are conducted in different industries, from the paper-, packaging- and consumer goods industries to retail. Since 2017 she has been project leading and conducting research on innovation management in retail, funded by the Swedish innovation agency Vinnova and The Swedish Retail and Wholesale Council. She is alumni of PIEp, a program that aims to increase product and service innovations and in Sweden, and an affiliated researcher to Centre for Retail Research at Lund University and fellow of IMIT.
She lectures in Innovation Engineering – focusing on teaching an approach for innovation inspired by design thinking and supervise master and PhD students in the areas of strategy, customer orientation and innovation management.
